Interview with Eric Trentenaere, Breeder Of Champion German Shepherds

Eric talks about dog breeding and how ADAPTIL makes maternity process better for the puppies.

IN A FEW WORDS TELL US ABOUT YOUR DOG BREEDING?

Hello my name is Eric Trentenaere, I am a German Shepherd breeder, since 1985 under the name of Val d'Anzin.

Since my youngest age, since the age of 7 years it was always my dream to be a breeder of German Shepherds, you can not breed if you are not passionate, it's impossible. You have to really, really be passionate.

The German Shepherd is really my favourite breed. It is an exceptional dog in terms of beauty, nobility and temperament. The relationship between the owner and the dog is exceptional.

I was lucky enough to have a great dog, Eurasi from Val d'Anzin who gave great bitches, very good breeders and now he is in all the pedigree around the world.

Since the 1990s I participate in the world championships in Germany, and we often have very good places every year, among the best in German Shepherd breeding in the world. Now I have breeders all over the world, It's a family pride because I work with my nephews, with my wife and with many friends, we have great results and frankly it makes us very proud.

WHY DID YOU ACCEPT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ADAPTIL STUDY?

I have been working with the veterinary school of Alfort for over 20 years and they asked me to participate in a study, I told them yes right away.

The veterinarians of the Alfort School came to the breeding to install diffusers, cameras and necklaces on several of my dogs in a place that we reserve for breeding bitches. They asked me to observe the bitches, their behaviour in relation to their puppies, to know if they were calm, more nervous ...

WHAT DID YOU OBSERVED DURING THIS STUDY?

In the study I had several bitches that were tested including a dog that was primiparous, it was his first litter, I realized that for a first litter this dog was strangely calm and in addition to a large range of 9 puppies. Her 9 puppies were raised very easily. Often I said to my employees it's rare to have a bitch that raises her first litter so well, She is a really a good mother, and I was really satisfied especially for his first litter.

Jazz a bitch who had already made several litters, a very very good mother, but this time had a large litter, 9 puppies, and normally when you have 9 puppies the differences between the puppies can be large, but not this time they are all homogeneous, that there was really a very similar size 9 pups, the same weight, the same frame. It was really a very very nice litter.

I think that any breeder would know who used Adaptil because you really see the difference, especially when the puppies are 8 weeks old, it's puppies that are uniform, all the same, who have no problem weaning, who eat well and who are quite calm. We really see the difference between a dog who had the placebo and a dog who had the Adaptil.

DO YOU CONTINUE TO USE ADAPTIL?

The use of Adaptil for us means less stress.

There are studies that have been done and where it shows that it really works and that it will allow us to have calmer weaning and breeding dogs.

It is a product that I will continue to use and that I will recommend without problem.
